The heat has settled into my neck of the woods, and for now I'm OK with that. Check back in a few days and we'll see if I'm still OK with it...
What's new?
Cozy Mystery Village 7K Member Giveaway
There are a handful of cozy mystery groups on Facebook that are very active and full of amazing readers and authors alike, so when one such group - Cozy Mystery Village - reached a milestone of 7,000 members, we had a party!
Over 200 participants hosted giveaways, and it was so much fun to be a part of! I'm excited to send a signed copy of Pies, Lies, and Alibis to Anne-Marie...and maybe a few extra goodies as well.

And a big shout-out to new subscribers who joined from that group! *waves excitedly*
Do You Hear What I Hear?
I am VERY excited to announce that I am in talks with a wonderful audiobook producer to record Pies, Lies, and Alibis!
It's still early days yet, so keep your fingers and toes crossed that everything goes to plan! Who knows - maybe it'll be available in time for the holidays this year!
Cars, Cons, and Macarons (Book 2) News
I'm getting back to work on book two after taking a break last week (more on that below!) and I'm excited to get back to writing. That few days off was just what I needed to reset and refresh! I've got 22.6K words written, and my goal is to add at least 10K for the month of June.
On a personal note...
My husband and I kicked off our summer with concerts and baseball games, a trip to the zoo, and an amusement park.
Our concerts of course included Local H, but we also saw two other 90s alternative groups we enjoy, Sponge and Toadies. We also were able to see Devo! That was one of the most fun shows I've been to in a long while.
We are Devo! (Sadly, I did not get an Energy Dome...)
Our local zoo has done such a wonderful job keeping things fresh and engaging for guests. I had to make a point to visit the red pandas - they're my favorites!
Four baseball games in seven days may seem like a lot to most folks, but it was quite an enjoyable way to spend our summer afternoons and evenings. Three minor league baseball games, which are always fun, but the icing on the cake (mmm....cake...) was taking the Amtrak train to Chicago and going to Wrigley Field for a Cubs game! We sat through a rain delay, only to have the Cubs lose 18-3...whomp, whomp! At least we came prepared with umbrellas!
A bit rainy at the Cubs game on Friday.
What I'm Reading...
I thought I'd add a new section, just to keep things interesting :)
I just finished a dystopian Young Adult (YA) series I started years ago called Last Survivors by Susan Beth Pfeffer and while I'm glad I read through the whole series, I have to say I was left wanting more from it. It was an interesting premise, though, and I liked how interconnected the story lines were from book to book.
Kim Beatty loves crafting cozy stories of small town life, relatable characters, light romance, and a pinch of mystery for good measure. She lives in the Midwest with her husband, classic cars, and a quirky sense of humor. When Kim isn't writing, she can likely be found at concerts, reading way past her bedtime, or wandering the streets of Chicago which feels like a second home.
